AYYO Contemporary has partnered this year with The Theatre Chipping Norton to run the Illustory residency, which offers professional development and exhibition experience for emerging artists.
Four artists were selected to respond to the Theatre’s stage adaptation of the fairytale, Sleeping Beauty, acting as artists in residence at the Theatre throughout the process of production from scripting and rehearsals right through to the opening night. The resulting artworks delve into the literary themes that are emblematic of their own cultures and make contemporary visual responses to them.
