"Once more the tidal wave, that when it has swept by leaves summits stained - oh, blood will out. It cannot be contained."
- Robert Frost
Water plays a key role in most of Rosannagh’s paintings, where she often uses the natural flow and spread of water, or even ice, to deposit pigment and texture. In her After the Flood series, the surface of the canvas is literally flooded with water that is carrying inks, pigments, salts or sand. Allowed to flow freely across the canvas, and left to evaporate for several days or weeks, the remaining image visualises natural water movement as well as the impact of flooding and its lasting imprint on an area.
